South Africa Work Permit

EA Visas offers a Global Immigration Service to those looking to apply for a visa for work, residency, or leisure purposes and can offer a helping hand when it comes to applying for a South Africa Work Permit. Applying to work in another country can be daunting and stressful, but EA Visas can help lift some of the strain and help you make your application a quick and worry-free process.

When an individual is looking to visit South Africa to take up employment, they must apply for a South Africa Work Permit. There are currently three variations of work permits that are available to be applied for; the general working permit, an Intra-Company Transfer and a Quota Work Permit.

General Work Permit
The General Work Permit is perhaps the strictest out of all working permits in South Africa. Of course, the country wants to encourage international trade, but South Africa wants to ensure that South African citizens obtain work before the jobs are taken by foreign nationals. In order to be accepted for a General Work Permit, the individual must prove that the position you want to take in South Africa cannot be filled by anyone else and no South African citizen would be able to take on that specific role. To prove this, the employer usually places an advert, advertising the position, and if nobody suitable with the required skills applies, the South African Immigration service will then consider your application.

Intra-Company Transfer
This is perhaps the easiest of all work permits to obtain. An intra-company transfer is when the company you already work for transfers you to another branch of the business in South Africa. When applied for and the right paper work and documentation is provided, an Intra-Company transfer is usually quickly processed and accepted.

Quota Work Permit
This is a permit given to those who have at least five years’ experience in any sector on the Skills Shortage list. When accepted, the applicant is given a three-month work permit and the individual must ensure they find work within that time frame. Once employment has been found, it is up to the individual to inform the Home Office.
